Manufacturing in Current China at a Glance
  • Facing with the surging inflation rate in current China, a lot of manufacturers have to reduce their products' price;
  • With the enacting of latest <Law of the people's republic of China on employment contracts>, labor cost in current China is not as cheap as it used to be.
  • "Are Chinese food safe enough?" "Why there are so many recalls of toys made in China?" More and more "Made in China" products are questioned by other countries.
  • Exports revenue of some industries is reduced due to the cut of export tariff rebates
  • Upholding a more strict policy of environment protection, companies from all industries must invest a lot in energy saving.

    • We can't help ask ourselves: "What can we do to rescue us from the ever-shrinking profit in manufacturing industry?"

    Under this kind of background, China Lean Award has been brought to life. China Lean Award is designed to encourage lean people on their lean journey in China. It's more about participating than about winning the award. Even for the winners, they should not easily start believing that their company is lean enough. As we all know, Toyota has been on their lean journey for over 50 years and publicly states that they still need to improve. So CLA actually recognizes lean people's present effort in implementing lean and with a hope that no one will stop continuous improvement.

    Preparation for CLA Presentation
    China Lean Award Ceremony & Presentation
    The submissions in CLA should be in accordance with the required Achievement PPT template, in which they demonstrate the result of lean implementation at entries' site and to explain why the entry qualifies to win the category entered.

    At this phase, candidates are closely looked into and evaluated. Judge panel may have a conference call with selected candidates to verify, amplify and clarify the information provided in the Achievement PPT and other materials. Based on grades given by the judge panel, the final FIVE winners come out.

    		 Winners are informed in early-September. Speech preparations then start for this year's MEW. On Oct. 22nd, around 9 nominees are invited to elaborate their submitted cases. FIVE of them will be announced winners of CLA during MEW 2008.
